The Anton Family Foundation Occupational Rehabilitation Kitchen

Petoskey, Michigan

The Northern Michigan Regional Health System Foundation exists to support the mission of Northern Michigan Regional Health System—which is “to provide healthcare as we expect for our own family.” In 2010, Northern Michigan Regional Health System broke ground on a new outpatient facility, the John and Marnie Demmer Wellness Pavilion and Dialysis Center. The Demmer Wellness Pavilion incorporates the principles of evidence-based design to provide patients with a soothing, healing, and inspiring care environment.

Located within the Demmer Wellness Pavilion, the Anton Family Foundation Occupational Rehabilitation Kitchen offers a dual benefit to patients and the community. With input from the Culinary Institute of America, the kitchen was designed and equipped for cooking demonstrations, creating an place where patients and community members can learn delicious ways to incorporate healthy food choices into their meals. As part of the outpatient Occupational Therapy program, patients recovering from injury, surgery or illness, such as a stroke, can work under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist to regain the skills necessary to safely cook in their own kitchens.
