The Lakes Region Youth Orchestra

Rutland, VT

The Lakes Region Youth Orchestra is located in Castleton and Rutland, Vermont.  It provides an orchestral program for the youth of west central Vermont and east central New York.  There are seven music ensembles to serve musical abilities ranging from mid-elementary school age to senior high school musicians.  The ensembles include a concert band, wind ensemble, string ensembles, symphonic orchestra, and a philharmonic orchestra.

The Anton Family Foundation’s grant to the Lakes Region Youth Orchestra has enabled it to increase its fundraising activities, including the creation of a new brochure, website, and newsletter.  As a result, the LRYO has since received additional funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.

The Anton Family Foundation’s grant to the LRYO has also created the Anton Solo Competition, open to musicians high school age and younger.  The winner of the Anton Solo Competition receives an award of $1000 for future music development and a featured soloist performance with a senior ensemble at the LRYO’s Spring Concert.
